PURPOSE

BST16X40 is designed for handheld visual observation of distant objects during day time from both fixed and moving carriers.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

BST16X40 device is used in various fields of observation and identification of distant objects in the terrain in order to solve a number of practical tasks. High magnification, easiness in carrying and handling allow to use the device in almost inaccessive places and in nonstandard observation conditions.
In nonstandard conditions resulted from shaking and vibration of carriers from which observation is conducted the use of viewing devices without image stabilization is ineffective. Shaking and vibration do not worsen the image quality of a device with image stabilization. therefore the use of such a device in non-standard conditions is most effective.

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

The device is a complex optomechanical system which forms the observed space image in the eyepiece focal plane. The system is based on a prism block kinematically linked with a gyro stabilizing assembly rotor which ensures stability in the device's axis of sight space irrespective of angular oscillation of the device itself. The gyro assembly frequency characteristics are chosen so that operator's hands ingerent vibration transferred to the device frame are damped out effectively enough. The control action of the gyro assembly magnetic corrector ensures automatic agremant of the axis of sight and the device frame resulting in the observed objects search capability with the velocity up to 6 angular degree per second.
